Tim Gallant Promoted to Director of Surveying!

Timothy Gallant has been promoted to Director of Surveying of Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc. 

Gallant, a licensed professional surveyor who received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Maine at Orono in 2002, joined Main-Land in 2008. 

He began his career at Main-Land as a field surveyor, quickly earned his professional surveying license, climbed to Survey Coordinator, and now directs the survey department.  Main-Land employs four professional surveyors and can run up to three survey crews simultaneously.  Gallant is tasked with managing the department and all survey projects.

“Surveying has and will be a critical component to Main-Land’s success.  In this challenging economy Main-Land will continue to offer high quality, prompt and reliable survey services.  While we grow, we will continue to add new surveying services and technology.” Says Gallant.

Gallant lives in Wayne with his wife and daughter.

Main-Land Owner/President Darryl Brown hosts UMaine Foundation’s 75th Anniversary celebration

Exactly 75 years after the creation of the University of Maine Foundation, the organization held its 75th anniversary celebration hosted by Main-Land Development’s Owner/President Darryl Brown, who is also the chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The event was held last night in Orono.

At the celebration, Brown helped honor five alumni, one from each of UMaine’s degree-granting colleges, who have gone on to serve their professions and their communities at the highest level and who have not been honored previously by the university, the University of Maine Alumni Association or the Foundation, were honored including teacher and registered dietician Karen Baldacci, wife of Maine Governor John Baldacci; Joline Godfrey, CEO of Independent Means, Inc. and an innovation in financial education for families; Edward Keefer, Chief Financial Officer for M/C Venture Partners in Boston; Patrice Krant, director of global procurement in Coca Cola’s Global Business Services organization;
and Lawrence Bender, a renowned film producer and political activist whose credits include “Kill Bill, Vol. 1″ and “Kill Bill Vol. 2,” “Good Will Hunting,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Anna and the King,” “Jackie Brown,” and “Reservoir Dogs.”

“I am honored to be a part of the anniversary celebration and am grateful to all the donors, past presidents and chairs whose leadership, generosity and vision have resulted in our success,” Brown, who himself graduated from UMaine with both a B.S. and an M.S. says. “Since 1975, the Foundation has paid more than $75 million to support University of Maine programs, students and faculty. That support is possible only because of our thoughtful, generous donors.”

A gift of $1,000 from the University of Maine Class of 1909 launched the Foundation, which now has total assets exceeding $140 million, including over $100 million of endowed funds that provide scholarships and other forms of financial support for University of Maine students, faculty and programs.The University of Maine Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that exists to encourage gifts and bequests designed to nurture academic achievement, foster research and elevate intellectual pursuit at the Universityof Maine. Main-Land names Charles Buker Chief of Surveying

LIVERMORE FALLS- Charles Buker, a surveyor at Main-Land Development Consultants, has been promoted to chief of surveying.

In his new position, Buker, 28, is responsible for overseeing the firm’s seven-person survey crew as they complete survey work throughout Franklin, Oxford, Somerset and Kennebec counties. In addition to coordinating surveyor schedules, he also performs boundary and topographic surveys and assists Main-Land engineers in site design.

He is the firm’s youngest-ever chief of surveying.

Buker joined Main-Land in 2002 as a survey technician, directly following his graduation from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is a member of the Maine Society of Land Surveyors and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping.

“As chief of surveying, Charles will provide our company’s clients a consistent and informed point of contact who will ensure expedited and accurate resolution of all land survey inquiries,” said Darryl Brown, president of Main-Land Development Consultants. “Having grown up in Androscoggin County and graduating from the University of Maine at Orono makes Charles a particularly valuable member of our team as he understands and appreciates the places where our clients are planning projects.”

A graduate of Edward Little High School, Buker and his wife, Whitney, live in Auburn.
