Article as released to the Press:

Darryl Brown has sold Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc. to Robert Berry III.

Darryl Brown of Livermore Falls founded Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc. in 1974.  Under Brown’s leadership, Main-Land grew to become a full service land development consulting firm.  In 2011, Brown was appointed Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection.  Later he was transferred to direct the State Planning Office, where he accomplished Governor LePage’s plans for that office.  In November 2011, Brown sold his company to the President appointed in his absence: Robert Berry III.

Berry, a licensed professional engineer who received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono in 1994, joined Main-Land in 2004.

As an engineer and project manager at the firm, Berry has worked at designing, coordinating and guiding to successful completion projects throughout Maine including residential, industrial and multi-use developments; churches; commercial developments; institutional improvements; and municipal projects.  Since taking the company’s reins, Main-Land has grown and expanded into Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, and Hydrogeology.  Berry is currently leading site development efforts for the Oxford Resort Casino.

Berry lives with his wife and three sons on the family farm in Embden.

“We want to assure our many valuable clients that we will continue to provide the professional, prompt and personable land planning consulting services our firm has built its reputation upon for nearly four decades.  As we move forward, Main-Land will grow and provide even more services that will add value to our customer’s land,” said Berry.

As an engineer and project manager at the firm, Berry has worked at designing, coordinating and guiding to successful completion projects throughout Maine including residential, industrial and multi-use developments; churches; commercial developments; institutional improvements; and municipal projects. He is currently leading site development efforts for both the Oxford Resort Casino and the Livermore Falls Medical Arts Building.

At the same time, we want to assure our many valuable clients that we will continue to provide the professional, prompt and personable land planning consulting services our firm has built its reputation upon for nearly four decades,” said Berry, who has provided provisional leadership of the firm since early January when Brown’s nomination was announced.

In addition to Berry as its president, the firm will be led by a governing board that includes Main-Land’s Personnel and Engineering Director Tom DuBois, Office Manager and Treasurer Angela Pinkham, Turner-based attorney Clint Boothby and Jay-based accountant Ron McAllister.

Main-Land will continue to offer soils and site evaluation work, formerly done by Brown, provided by Kenneth Stratton, a Licensed Site Evaluator and Certified Soil Scientist with more than three decades of experience.
